MANAGING INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE
When selecting members for a team, the team leader must consider several different criteria. First and foremost, aside from intellectual qualifications, the ability to work well within a team environment may be the most important area that must be considered when deciding on members of a team. Personality goes a long way, and a team member must be both strong and able to concede ideas in a team environment in order for the team to run effectively and efficiently.
The first person I selected for my team in the simulation was Lisa Stafford. Given the criteria needed to build case files, I felt that Lisa’s personality profile fit the analytical aspects of building said files. Her ability to analytically think gave her the edge over the other candidates in this area. The second person selected, under the moderate self-help group category, was John Connor. John’s hobbies and interests include contributing to social causes and training children in sports, indicating that he has a great deal of patience. Patience is a necessity in the field of self help.
