THE MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM

Throughout this thesis, the primary interest of this author has to do with the improvement of communication among school administrators, educators and teachers, counselors, and of course students, etc. There have been difficulties among some colleges in establishing and understanding the optimal type of communication, for the educators, and especially the students’ benefit yet, as this author discusses at length, Management Information Systems (MIS) which has ultimately evolved into Information Technology (IT), has much to offer. As the title of this thesis states - - information management in virtual organizations - - this author has been able to identity many areas wherein management information systems (i.e. IT) have served other organizations (other than education) to their maximum efficiency, it is the belief of this author that there is absolutely no reason that these same principles cannot be transferred to colleges and universities.
