Research Paper On CORONARY HEART DISEASE
For purposes of this research paper, this author should like to begin by defining coronary heart disease (CHD). For the purpose of providing some background information regarding coronary heart disease, and in the way of a more in depth understanding, the coronary arteries of the human heart provide the heart muscles with oxygenated blood. The left coronary and right coronary arteries each derive from one of the cusps of the aortic valve. The left coronary branches from the aorta and extends along the left ventricle (front) surface of the heart, until it divides into the circumflex branch and the intervenricular (anterior descending) branch. The former passes posteriorly along the dorsal (back) surface of the heart and the latter reaches the apex of the heart and turns towards the back of the ventricle. The right coronary divides on the right ventral surface of the heart into the marginal branch and continues along the dorsal surface, where it divides into the posterior descending branch. At this point the coronary arteries interconnect. Since the coronary arteries are on the surface, they are accessible for surgical procedure. When...
