Summary and Analysis of the Concept Between Street and Management Cops
The purpose of this treatise is to evaluate the assess The Three Political Eras as presented by Kelly and Moore and their respective prescriptions. Similarly, it is the intent of this author to list and comment briefly on two of the criticisms as expressed by Hubert Williams and Patrick Murphy, as presented in The Evolving Strategy of Policing: A Minority View. To begin with, I should like to summarize and delineate Those Three Eras as presented by Kelly and Moore. Overall, I believe it would be fair to state that the so-called eras are best understood in both historical, political and practical terms Ñ particularly as contrasted by the street vs the management cops. These eras may appropriately be grouped into the following: 1) political; 2) reform; and 3) community. This is to say, the political era; the reform era; and the community problem-solving era.
