A (MANAGERIAL AND LEADERSHIP) ANALYSIS OF SOUTHWEST AIRLINES
Like all corporations of the magnitude of Southwest Airlines, the organization maintains a set of core values and purposes, with specific emphasis upon “human environment”, which may be related to the respective (i.e. Southwest Airlines) organizational leadership. It is for this reason that this author is particularly concerned with not only organizational management and leadership, but also some macro-conditions, such as globalization, compression of time, as well as access to information. These may be best understood in terms of policies and practices amongst Human Resources (HR), participation, leadership opportunities, practice teams, work groups, et al. As shall be discussed throughout this research paper, there is particular emphasis upon varied strategic alliances which have been embraced by corporate America particularly over the last 10 years, and even more so throughout the 1990s, and now, the new millenium.
