Addressing the Problem of Teenage Pregnancies in the UK

Number of Pages 53

The conception rate among teenagers in the UK, especially those under 18 years of age, is the highest rate in Western Europe. In 1999 the government announced a target to reduce the incidence rate by half by 2010. This target was missed. The writer assesses the ongoing problem of teenage pregnancies in the UK, looking at the epidemiology and influences before undertaking an assessment of some example of representative and positive policies and strategies. Against the identification of the relevant policies the writer provides a discussion, recognizing some of the gaps and shortfalls and making recommendations for the way in which current strategies and interventions may be improved. The paper includes all relevant sections usually found in a dissertation, including aims and objectives, justifications, limitations as well as an in-depth methodology. Forty sources are cited in the bibliography of this fifty-three page paper
