First American Citizen Saint

Number of Pages 8

A little known fact is that the first American citizen saint was an immigrant and a woman. Mother Frances Xavier Cabrini was born on July 15, 1850 in a little town called Sant'Angelo Lodigiano. She wanted to be a nun but she was too frail so she founded her own order of nuns. She immigrated to New York because Pope Leo XIII asked her to minister to the Italian immigrants living there. This essay includes a biography, her spiritual growth, how she related to the male-dominated hierarchy in the church and her legacy. There are ten sources listed in the bibliography of this eight page paper.
