The writer looks at the way in which decriminalization of drugs can be seen as a relatively recent event, based on what values. Issues such as the link between drugs and criminal behavior, the potential economic impact of decriminalization or legalization and the argument that as a result of drugs being underground treatment is more difficult for addicts in the problem remains hidden.
