The Photography of Walker Evans

Number of Pages 8

This 8 page paper discusses the life and photography of Walker Evans. Evans worked for the Farm Security Administration in the 1930s, and is considered responsible for introducing the concept of documentary photography to the U.S. In particular, a series of photos of farmers taken during the Depression, done in a completely objective style, showed people the terrible conditions under which the farmers lived and that they needed help. He accomplished this by letting the photos speak for themselves. There are 10 sources listed in the bibliography.
