Social Concerns in Latin American Colonial Times

Number of Pages 6

Latin America during colonial times presented a patchwork of social and legal systems and subsystems, which varied from colony to colony. This paper examines how the native Americans' social culture was key to maintaining the hierarchy established by the Spaniards and allowed it to flourish. When the Spaniards failed to rule with justice, however, the system collapsed with riots and eventual independence. The expectation of justice was a key ingredient in Indians' social construct. This paper has six pages and nine sources are listed in the bibliography.
